You can book directly with Alternative Balance. Our AHPRA-registered practitioners can assess you via telehealth. You are welcome to bring any relevant medical history, previous treatment notes, or specialist reports to your appointment, as these can be helpful, but they are not required to get started.
Our consultations are available to Australian residents aged 18 and over who are living with a chronic or persistent health concern. If you are unsure whether your situation is suitable, complete our online questionnaire or contact our team. There is no obligation.
Before your consultation, it may help to gather any relevant medical records, letters from specialists, or a list of medications you are currently taking. You do not need to have this information to book. Your clinician can work with what you have. It is also worth thinking about your main symptoms, how long you have experienced them, and what treatments you have already tried.
During your initial consultation (approximately 20 minutes), your clinician will take a thorough medical history, discuss your current symptoms and previous treatments, and assess your individual circumstances. Based on this clinical assessment, your clinician may recommend a management plan, provide lifestyle advice, refer you to another healthcare provider, or determine that no treatment is appropriate at this time. The consultation is conducted entirely via secure video call.
Our clinicians provide consultations for a wide range of persistent health concerns. During your consultation, your clinician will assess your individual situation and discuss appropriate management options. Not all consultations result in a prescription. Your clinician will recommend the most appropriate pathway for your circumstances.
Your initial consultation is approximately 20 minutes. This allows your clinician enough time to properly understand your health history and discuss your options. Follow-up appointments are generally around 10 minutes and focus on monitoring your progress and adjusting your management plan if needed.
You will need a device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, or computer) and a stable internet connection. Our consultations are conducted via secure video call. You will receive a link before your appointment with instructions on how to join. There is no software to download.
Yes. Alternative Balance operates as a 100% telehealth service, meaning you can consult from any location in Australia with a reliable internet connection. Whether you are in a capital city, a regional town, or a remote area, our clinicians can assess you via a secure video call.
After your consultation, your clinician will outline the recommended next steps. This may include a personalised management plan (if deemed medically appropriate), lifestyle guidance, a referral to another healthcare provider, ongoing monitoring, or a recommendation that no further action is needed. Your clinician will explain what to expect at every stage.
Your clinician will recommend a review schedule based on your individual needs. Follow-up consultations are $59 (approximately 10 minutes) and are designed to monitor your progress, address any concerns, and adjust your management plan if necessary.
Not all consultations result in a prescription. Your clinician may recommend a personalised management plan, lifestyle changes, a referral to another healthcare provider, ongoing monitoring, or a recommendation that no further action is needed. If a prescription is deemed medically appropriate, your clinician will explain the next steps during your appointment.
Your clinician will discuss all relevant considerations during your consultation, including any factors that may affect your daily activities or obligations. We encourage you to ask questions openly so your clinician can provide guidance tailored to your individual circumstances.
Initial consultations are $79 (approximately 20 minutes). Follow-up consultations are $59 (approximately 10 minutes). There are no hidden fees. You will know the cost before you book.
These consultations are not currently eligible for Medicare rebates, and most private health insurers do not cover them. This means you will pay out of pocket for your consultation fees. Our pricing is kept as accessible as possible to ensure cost is not a barrier to care.
We understand that plans change. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice may incur a fee. Contact our team if you have any questions about rescheduling.
Medication costs vary depending on the treatment prescribed and the dispensing pharmacy. Your clinician can discuss indicative pricing during your consultation. Medication costs are separate from the consultation fee and are paid directly to the pharmacy.
Yes. Your consultation is completely confidential and conducted via a secure, encrypted video platform. All personal and medical information is handled in accordance with Australian privacy legislation, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We will never share your information without your explicit consent, except where required by law.
Your medical records are stored securely in compliance with Australian healthcare data standards. Access is restricted to your treating clinician and authorised administrative staff. You can request a copy of your records at any time by contacting our team.
Your medical information is private and subject to Australian privacy law. Alternative Balance will not disclose your consultation or any treatment details to your employer, insurer, or any other third party without your written consent. The only exceptions are where disclosure is required by law.
Not every consultation results in a prescription, and our clinicians will always act in your interests. If your clinician determines that a particular treatment pathway is not appropriate for your circumstances, they will explain why and may suggest alternative options, including referral to your GP or another healthcare provider. There is no pressure to proceed. Your health and informed choice come first.
